Overzealous Zucchini’s

This morning I took a wander down into my vegetable garden. It has been sadly neglected for about a week or so due to Christmas festivities.

Now most of you, including myself, should know better than to leave a zucchini on its own. One day they are just sitting pretty, with gorgeous yellow flowers, a promise of whats to follow.

Thoughts of tender zucchini with pasta on my mind…a sprinkle of fresh ground pepper, olive oil and garlic.

But alas the zucchini has other thoughts and has turned into a virtual triffid, rampaging forth at an extraordinary rate.

My thoughts have now turned to Summer zucchini slice which is where all the big zucchini’s go…

But there still is promise of sweet, tender zucchini pasta….

I just need to keep my eye on them

Wow, they grow in a hurry, don’t they? I wonder how large they could become if you just didn’t pick them…before they start to rot, that is. I don’t have the right place for a veggie garden, or I’d try to have one. I just grow tomato plants on my deck. I can generally count on those;) Jan

I’ve learned never to turn my back on a zuke, but it’s a good problem to have.

Try them scooped out and baked with tomatoes, dill and parmesan cheese on top.

Zucchini – what can I say! They appear to double in size overnight and are very adept at hiding themselves under a leaf until they are too big to manage (lol.)

Hello there !
I didn’t know at first, where you are situated .. and thought wow : ) ..
I tried growing pumpkins a few years .. on my deck .. from a pot .. and to no avail sadly (they were the smaller breeds too) .. the flowers look very much the same .. same family of veggies I guess.
I’m more of a perennial,shrub,vine, rose … well you get the idea .. not enough room for veggies .. so I have to enjoy everyone else’s !

LOL…it is amazing how fast those little buggers can get BIG! I always use my big one for zuchini bread, yum! I wish I has fresh zuchini, sounds so good! Kim

I’m so jealous of your zucchini’s. We currently have about a foot of snow on the ground – so it’s great to see something green.
